TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - Officials with the Arizona Game and Fish Department want people to be bear aware as they explore the state’s great outdoors.

In the last week, hikers reported bears in Madera Canyon, Elgin and in Thatcher, according to a tweet from the department. Officials urge hikers, campers and anyone outside to make sure their food and garbage are safely locked away from animals to avoid an unwanted encounter.
