TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - A passenger has passed away as the result of a collision in the Flowing Wells area.
On May 9, just after 1 p.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of W. Prince and N. Romero roads for a collision involving two passenger vehicles, a 1998 Jeep Cherokee and a 2008 Ford F150.
Tucson Fire Department personnel rendered aid to the occupants of both vehicles. The passenger of the white Ford F150 was pronounced deceased at the scene. He has been identified as 24-year-old Dennis Edward Agnew. Next of kin has been notified.
Both drivers and the remaining passengers of the F150 pickup were taken to Banner-University Medical Center for treatment of varying injuries. Traffic detectives determined that the pickup was making a left turn from southbound Romero Road to eastbound Prince Road when the Jeep traveling northbound through the intersection struck the pickup. Neither driver was impaired at the time of the collision.
Interviews and video evidence indicate that the pickup attempted the left turn on a green light and that the black Jeep Cherokee may have been speeding.
The pickup’s failure to yield making a left turn and the Jeep’s potentially excessive speed are the major contributing factors in the collision, according to officials.
This is an ongoing investigation and no citations or charges have been issued.
