More than 100 unaccompanied migrant children sent to Tucson
TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - Nearly 150 immigrant children were in the U.S. Border Patrol’s custody on Thursday, July 23.
According to a news release, agents in Tucson found 197 undocumented immigrants near San Miguel around 7:15 a.m. July 22. Of those immigrants, 147 were unaccompanied minors.
The immigrants were mostly from Guatemala, according to agents.
Two days before that group was located, agents said they found a group of 48 immigrants near Sasabe. CBP said 39 of those were children between five and 17 years old.
Both groups were taken to Tucson for processing.
