TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - It wasn’t a surprise, but it was still heartbreaking news for Arizona Wildcat fans.
On Wednesday, April 13, standout guard Bennedict Mathurin announced he is declaring for the NBA draft. He is expected to be a lottery pick.
“I would like to thank my family and friends for supporting me through my career at Arizona,” Mauthrin wrote in the tweet. “The city of Tucson has been great to me and the best fanbase in the world has welcomed me with open arms.”
In two seasons in Tucson, Mathurin averaged 14.8 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.
Mathurin was a big reason why the Wildcats enjoyed a resurgence before ending the season with a 72-60 loss to Houston in the Sweet 16.
