TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - Tucson’s Historic Fourth Avenue was barking with excitement during the Pets of Pima Parade, Saturday.

The event sheds light on pups in need of a forever home. Animal shelters from across Southern Arizona held adoption events, hoping to find the right connection. It did just that for the Droher’s.

“We decided to come on our and enjoy the parade, said Ron Droher. “We are also looking for an adoptable dachshund.”

KOLD News 13′s Allie Potter met Ron and Linda Droher during the parade. They are snowbirds in Green Valley and told her they are going back to Minnesota next month.

“And hopefully with a puppy.”

After the parade Potter ran into Chief Meteorologist Erin Christensen and her new puppy, Roxy.

She then bumped into the Droher’s again, they were “looking” at this dog, Scar. He is not a dachshund but a “Pom-Chi.”

“He is such a beautiful looking dog and he has a great demeaner that we decided this has to be the one.”

Scar has been staying with his foster-mom, Debbie Ammons who works for Arizona Desert Rotti and Pals Rescue. She’s very protective over him but said she knew right away Droher’s would be the perfect pet parents.

“A great environment. these people who are adopting this dog have a mobile-home that they travel in so this dog can go with them all the time.”

Ammons said it is important the future dog owners and dog see eye to eye. So, honesty is key before signing the papers.

“He jumps up on the bed in the morning and they are okay with that,” said Ammons.

“We are in love already, exclaimed Linda Droher. He is going to be a great dog for us and we are going to enjoy him and I am sure he is going to enjoy us. He is now part of our family,” Ron Droher added.

Scar’s new parents said they plan on participating in the Pets of Pima Parade next year, after all it is what brought this trio together.
