CHANDLER, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) — A pregnant woman, her unborn child and her husband are dead after a murder-suicide in Chandler early Wednesday morning. Police said 38-year-old Kevin Holmberg was drunk and called 911 around 1 a.m. but wouldn’t tell officers his location, which officers later learned was an apartment complex near Ray and McClintock roads. Officers searched the area and couldn’t find anyone who needed help.

But then officers learned a woman, later identified as 41-year-old Katherine Holmberg, might be in danger. Around 2 a.m., police say Kevin came out of an apartment with a gun. Within a few minutes, he shot himself while outside in front of officers, investigators said. When they went inside the apartment, they found Katherine shot to death. She was pregnant and her unborn child didn’t survive. Police believe Kevin shot her. No one else was hurt. An investigation is ongoing.
