Amy’s Kitchen recalls more than 180K cans of soup due to ‘potential for spoilage’

(Gray News) - Amy’s Kitchen is recalling more than 180,000 cans of its lentil soup because the soup could spoil before use.

The company recalled one lot of Amy’s Organics Lentil – Light in Sodium, according to an FDA enforcement report. The report said 15,350 cases were recalled, with 12 cans in each case, resulting in 184,200 cans.

The report listed the reason for the recall as “potential for spoilage.” The company’s website said it was due to a “manufacturer defect” in the can’s easy-open tab.

Recalled cans can be identified by lot number 60D0924 and best-by date April 2027.

The soup was sold in 28 states, including Arizona, Georgia, Florida, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee and Texas. The soup was also sold in Canada.

The recall was initiated on June 22. The FDA classified it as a Class II recall on July 14. According to the FDA, a Class II recall means consuming the recalled product may cause “temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.”

Amy’s Kitchen said customers can return the recalled cans to the place of purchase for a refund.
