J.D. Wallace is no stranger to Tucson or KOLD-TV. He moved to Tucson when he was 12, attended Emily Gray Junior High and graduated from Sabino High School. He turned Sun Devil and graduated from ASU before taking his first reporting job in Anchorage, Alaska.
J.D. reported for KOLD from June 2003 to April 2015. He left the journalism profession for about eight years before returning to KOLD in May 2023. In that time he also became a certified flight instructor (CFI) which he also pursues when he isn’t reporting.
J.D. enjoys hiking in the Santa Catalinas and Tucson Mountains and also appreciates Tucson’s vibrant restaurant scene. He has cycled in the El Tour de Tucson in 2007, 2011, 2019 and 2022 and aims to do so again.
