Kyle Chinen starts his journalism career at Hawaii News Now, as a sports multimedia journalist.
Chinen Interned with Hawaii News Now in the Summer of 2019, before earning his degree in Digital Communication and Photography from Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa.
While in the Midwest, Chinen played football for the Briar Cliff Chargers while being a key part in the revamp of the school’s online news site, Cliffnews.net. He also served as the social media director of the school's student-run radio station, BCU Radio.
A graduate of Mililani High School, Chinen lettered in football and was a part of Mililani’s undefeated 2014 HHSAA state championship team.
Chinen is excited to start his career in his home state and looks forward to telling the stories of Hawaii’s homegrown athletes.
