In his role as a digital content producer, Kevin Foster is an administrator for live streams, push alerts, the WAFB news, weather and sports apps, video rights and clearances, and reporter social media pages during afternoon, weekend, and nightside broadcast. Kevin writes local, national, breaking and viral news, and copy edits written reports, contributing to digital platforms.
"I love streaming and writing breaking news," he said. "In many cases I’m getting information for the first time, same as our audience. It forces me to stay on my toes and challenges me to improve my news gathering, because viewers are able to ask questions in real-time. I also enjoy being able to contribute digital, audio and video elements to support our amazing investigative team, the 9News Investigators."
Kevin’s early work includes reporting on politics, community affairs, and culture for publications in the city of in New Orleans. Additionally, while working for New Orleans Public Radio station, WWNO, Kevin served as producer on a number of radio broadcasts, podcasts, and live engagement-reporting events. One production was a storytelling event for which the signature components were that it was nomadic - no single event was held in the same location - and held in unconventional, non-performance spaces (empty lots, housing projects, grocery stores) within the New Orleans community. Those spaces were converted into venues.
