Mallory Schnell

Mallory joined the KOLD News 13 team April 2022 after spending three years forecasting in the Central Plains.

Prior to moving to the Old Pueblo, Mallory worked for KOLD's Sister Stations in Omaha, Nebraska (WOWT) and Columbus, Georgia (WTVM). She was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky.

Mallory earned her Bachelor of Science in Meteorology with a minor in Broadcasting from Western Kentucky University. During her time at WKU, she spent a semester abroad in England and a summer storm chasing in the Great Plains. Post-grad, she participated in a two-week program studying climate change in Iceland.

During her first six years as a broadcast meteorologist, Mallory has covered everything from blizzards to tornadoes and tropical storms to flooding. She enjoys forecasting the complexities of winter weather but is looking forward to putting the snow shovel away!

In 2021, Mallory earned her Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) designation from the American Meteorological Society.

When she’s not forecasting the weather, Mallory enjoys exploring the great outdoors, attending concerts, and trying out local restaurants.

She lives in Tucson with her husband, Jose, and their cat, Skye.
