The Tucson Subaru Talking Trash sponsorship is a school recycling competition that encourages elementary schools to engage in waste reduction practices. The goal of the Talking Trash program is to introduce students to the importance of recycling and environmental awareness. The program has fostered a mutually beneficial partnership between KOLD 13, Tucson Subaru, Waste Connections of Arizona and TUSD Schools.
In April, two TUSD elementary schools will compete in a contest that entails recycling material each week. Waste Connections of Arizona will monitor and collect data on the amount of material being recycled by each participating school. The mission of the Talking Trash contest is to educate students and faculty on the importance of recycling, proper waste management and environmentally sustainable practices.
