HEREFORD, Ariz. (KOLD) – A monsoon storm in the Huachuca Mountains sent floods down the Monument Fire burn area.
"There was probably 10 times more water coming down then I've ever seen before," Hereford resident Rick Weisberg said, "it was probably 100 feet across."
Black mud covered Weisberg's business and carport on his property, but the flow spared his house.
"We kind of knew it was a possibility," Weisberg said, "we were all afraid the next thing down the road was going to be the floods."
About 2 inches of rain fell in the Huachuca Mountains.
The water even moved a 500 gallon propane tank, according to the Cochise County Sheriff's Department.
Law enforcement officers restricted access to Miller and Carr Canyons.
The West Coronado Burned Area Emergency Response Team might begin treating the burn area next week. They plan on putting mulch and seed on the ground, installing warning signs and making other improvements.
