CASA GRANDE, AZ (KOLD) - A collision between a tandem bike and a van has killed a woman and injured a man.  Pinal County Sheriff's deputies also arrested a man at the scene who they say was going through the victims' personal belongings.

It happened Tuesday morning.  Deputies say Brian Pangburn, 46, and Pam Pangburn, 47, were riding north on Trekell Road, when a van struck the rear of their bicycle while heading in the same direction. The couple were wearing helmets and using a red strobe light to warn drivers.

Pam Pangburn, seated on the rear of the bicycle, suffered severe injuries to her chest and head and was taken by ground to Casa Grande Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.  Brian Pangburn, driver of the bicycle, suffered substantial chest injures and was flown by air to Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix. His condition is not known.

The driver of the van did not show signs of impairment at the scene and consented to give blood for testing.

Shortly after the accident, deputies say a witness to the crash was going through the backpack and personal item belonging to the victims. Casa Grande police arrested Francis Gibson, 77, after he was asked to leave and would not comply.
