TUCSON, AZ (KOLD) - Major League Soccer (MLS) is coming back to Tucson. Happening Thursday, organizers plan to release details about the 2012 Desert Cup.

Back in March, Tucson held the first "FC Desert Cup". Two MLS teams, the New York Red Bulls and the Sporting Kansas City, faced each other in a match-up at Hi-Corbett Field.

That event drew 10,000 excited soccer fans, many more then what organizers expected.

We spoke with organizers of Thursday's announcement, and they tell us they plan to announce an agreement with Kino Sports Complex to host the 2012 Desert Cup.

This time, they are hoping to lure four MLS teams to Tucson for the event. They also hope teams will stick around for some spring training.

The event can be a big boost for the city. In the first Desert Cup, organizers saw crowds coming from surrounding areas, including northern Mexico. A larger event could bring even more fans into Tucson, boosting the local economy.

We're told many city leaders will be at Thursday's announcement, plus a senior executive with Major League Soccer who's flown in just for this event.

The announcement is set for 11:00 a.m. Make sure to stay with KOLD News 13 and KOLD.com for the latest developments.
