TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Officers from the Arizona Department of Public Safety arrested a suspect Sunday and charged him with assaulting a Tucson Police officer and stealing a marked patrol car.

The suspect was identified as 28-year old Steven Davis. He has been booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center on one count each of aggravated assault on a police officer, theft of a means of transportation and flight from law enforcement, all felonies.

Tucson Police Sgt. Matt Ronstadt says while assisting with capturing a suspect in an unrelated stolen vehicle incident near Swan and Golf Links area, the suspect stole a marked TPD patrol car and dragged the officer with the car in the process.

Shots were fired by the officer, according to Ronstadt.

After a pursuit on westbound Interstate 10, DPS officers spiked the vehicle and detained the suspect at milepost 182, in the Casa Grande area.
