TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - A 22-year-old Tucson man was arrested Monday night after an accident at South Camino Seco and East Escalante killed a 23-year-old woman and seriously injured a 48-year-old man.
Kevin Ryan Millard was charged with second-degree murder after Tucson Police determined drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, Sgt. Maria Hawke said.
Police say Millard ran a stop sign and collided with a car driven by 23-year-old Kelly Huyser. She died at a local hospital after the collision.
The passenger, whose name was not released by Tucson Police, was transported to the hospital, but he's expected to survive his injuries, Hawke said.
Investigators say Huyser was traveling northbound on South Camino Seco when Millard ran the stop sign for east and westbound traffic at the intersection, Hawke said.
The incident happened at 12:39 p.m., she said.
Millard also was charged with one count of aggravated assault and one count of criminal damage, all felonies. He was booked into the Pima County jail.
