It's a sign that's been around for years and on Saturday it's become a big deal here in Tucson.

The El Con Mall sign has been named a historic landmark sign. People came to watch the re-lighting of the prominent landmark, marking 50 years of history.

The 35-foot sign was taken down around 13 years ago. The mall saved it and later with the approval of the city decided to put it back up.

We're told it cost the mall around $50,000 for renovations. The light will be lit up every night from now on.
