Fire guts vacant building in Sierra Vista

SIERRA VISTA, AZ (Tucson News Now) - A raging fire destroyed a vacant building at North Garden Avenue and Buffalo Soldier Trail on Sunday, Sierra Vista Fire said.

The blaze was through the roof when firefighters arrived around 1:30 p.m., acting Capt. Don Foster told Tucson News Now.

Firefighters shot water streams through the roof to put the fire out within 30-40 minutes, he said.

The building once housed a funeral home but has been abandoned for years, Foster said.

Sierra Vista Fire Marshal Paul Cimino, Jr. will investigate.
