TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - A Tucson man was arrested Tuesday and booked into Pima County Jail for an alleged attempted abduction and police are concerned there may be other victims.

William Schirmer, 51, was arrested at a store in the 600 block of East Grant Road after police say a store employee recognized him from an alleged attempted abduction there on Sunday.

Tucson Police say Schirmer is accused of allegedly tickling a 9-year-old girl and picking her up until she screamed, and he ran away. The girl's mother was in another aisle at the time.

On Tuesday, the employee called police and detectives from the Tucson Police Department's Sex Offender Registration and Tracking Unit determined that Schirmer was the suspect in Sunday's incident, according to a TPD news release.

Schirmer faces one count each of kidnapping, attempted kidnapping and aggravated assault.

Police think there may be other victims who may have been touched inappropriately by Schirmer. Anyone with information is urged to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
