LAS VEGAS, NV (Tucson News Now) -Sin City is bugging! America's city of lights ranks number three in the country for the highest increase in bedbug infestation. A new study measured the number of bedbug-specific calls to exterminators made in the first five months of the year compared to the same period of time last year, and Las Vegas had fifty percent more calls this year.

That's a lot for one of the top travel destinations in the country. Las Vegas area exterminator Ray Strickland takes calls for bedbugs, and in his expert opinion, it's the humans who are helping the bugs get from place to place. "They are hitch hikers, they go where we go, they're in our movie theaters, they're any place we like to be at, they like the controlled environment the same as we do. So they can be in our cars, air planes, luggage."

Las Vegas ranked behind Sacramento and Milwaukee on the bedbug list. This study was conducted by Terminix, one of the largest pest control providers in the nation.
