PIMA COUNTY, AZ ( Tucson News Now) - Serious allegations tonight about a foster home on the northwest side.
A child from that home is under arrest after reportedly sexually abusing another child under the same roof.
The alleged crimes occurred in a private residence just outside of Oro Valley in the 1600 block of West Sunkist Road.
The home in question is known as a "Splash House," one of several such homes in southern Arizona, owned and operated by Gap Ministries.
These properties are authorized by Child Protective Services to provide 24-hour care to children under the age of 18.
According to Gap Ministries executive director, it was their staff that contacted CPS and the Pima County Sheriff's Department about the alleged abuse.
We're told a 13 year old boy who lives at the house sexually assaulted an 11 year old girl first on Saturday, then a second time Tuesday afternoon.
On both occasions, we're told the victim told the manager of the house what had happened.
But a source tells us it wasn't until the second attack that Splash House staff reported the allegations to the proper authorities.
When we asked Gap Ministries about the allegations today -- and why the suspect and victim were allowed to live together, even after the initial complaint -- their only response to us was they're cooperating fully with the investigation.
They would neither confirm nor deny two separate complaints from the alleged victim.
Meantime, the Pima County Sheriff's departments will only tell us an arrest has been made and the investigation is ongoing.
We're told the young man accused of this has been removed from the home.
Sheriff's Department officials tell us they will not be releasing any more information until forensic results are back from their preliminary investigation.
