TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The Office of University Research Parks, which directs the UA Tech Park, UA Bio Park, and the Arizona Center for Innovation has changed its name to Tech Parks Arizona.
The name change is the result of university efforts to move research innovations to market, and reflect the integral relationship between Tech Parks Arizona and Tech Launch Arizona.
"The name change serves as a formal acknowledgement of the interrelationship of the units and the importance of each function. Completing the name with the word 'Arizona' strengthens the connection to the university, as well as to the state," David Allen, UA Vice President and Executive Director of Tech Launch Arizona, said in a news release.
Bruce Wright, the Associate Vice President for University Research Parks will continue to serve as the Chief Executive Officer of the Parks.
Tech Parks Arizona aims to play a significant role in economic development and technology commercialization. It does this by promoting research, education, technology innovation and commercialization.
