Prom dresses donated to high schoolers


TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - A charity group will be offering more than 700 free prom dresses to high school students around Tucson in March.

Cinderella's Closet Tucson collects donated dresses and accessories in an effort to ensure that every young girl has the opportunity to enjoy their prom, according to a news release.

The community program was started by Melissa Tureaud and Jennifer Megaw. They said they want their organization to be like Cinderella's fairy godmother, providing a dream prom experience for high school kids.

The prom attire will be available on Mar. 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tucson College located at 5151 E. Broadway Blvd, #155.

It will also be available Mar. 16 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Start Farm Insurance at 7485 E. Broadway Blvd.

High school students who want to pick out a dress are invited to attend, there is no registration necessary.

People who wish to donate dresses or accessories can bring them to Melissa Tureaud at State Farm Agency located at 7485 E. Broadway Blvd. on weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.
