TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - One man is dead after a shooting involving two Tucson Police officers.

Right now homicide detectives and Internal Affairs are on the scene, looking for evidence at the Vista Del Sol Apartments on 3810 East Monte Vista Drive.

Tucson Police say they arrived at the apartment complex just after 11 p.m. Wednesday evening, after getting a call from the landlord.  The landlord told officers there were people inside an apartment where she had recently evicted the tenants.

The two police officers went inside the apartment after announcing they were police and finding the front door unlocked.  Authorities say the officers heard music coming from one of the bedrooms, when the officers approached both allegedly started to shoot after they say a man came at them with a weapon.

"As they approached the door someone came out of that room, at this point it appears this person brandished a hockey stick," said Sgt. Chris Widmer, with the Tucson Police Department. "There was a confrontation between that individual and the two officers.  Both officers discharged their weapons striking that male."

The man with the hockey stick died later at the hospital, said TPD.  During the confrontation, the officers also shot a woman who was in the room.  She was transported to the hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries, and has been released according to Tucson Police.

The names of the man and woman who were shot, have not yet been released.
