One month into Monsoon 2014 and the numbers look good

One month into the monsoon and many locations are reporting above average rainfall. Monsoon data is recorded from June 15 to September 30 each year. While the monsoon started off quiet in June with little to not rain in the state, a surge of tropical moisture into Arizona to kick off July sustained storms for much of Southeast Arizona from July 3 through this week.

The Tucson International Airport has measured 0.85" of rain since June 15 (as of the morning of July 15). That is near-average. However people in other parts of Tucson have reported much higher totals on

. Sierra Vista is one of the most soaked locations in Southeast Arizona so far with over 4" of rain. That is over 3 times the average.
