TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The community can benefit from reduced cost dental hygiene treatment at Pima Community College's Dental Hygiene Clinic.

Each year, during the fall and spring semesters, the clinic provides high-quality, low-cost dental hygiene services to adults and children of all ages. In 2013, Pima's Dental Hygiene Clinic, located at the West Campus, served more than 800 patients.

"You can help students meet their clinical education requirements," said Joy Gall, Faculty member of PCC's Dental Hygiene Program, in a recent release. "It's a win-win situation.  The patients are getting wonderful care and dental hygiene treatment, and the students are learning from a variety of experiences."

The Clinic offers a full-range of preventive dental services to the public.  Students provide quality care utilizing the latest technology in comfortable surroundings and at fees less than most private dental practices.  All students treat patients under the supervision of licensed dental hygienists and dentists.

Pima's Dental Hygiene program participates in the Arizona School-based Dental Sealant Program with the Pima County Health Department to provide sealants to elementary school children attending qualifying schools in our local unified school districts and some charter schools, and the annual ADA sponsored Give Kids A Smile Program providing free oral health care services to elementary and middle school aged children from underserved communities.

Students also provide community outreach services to:  Pascua Yaqui Health Center, El Rio Community Health Center, St. Elizabeth's Health Center, and Southern Arizona Veterans Administration Health Care.

Pima's Clinic is the only public community college dental health clinic in Southern Arizona.  The program is accredited by the American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation.
