TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - A crash turned deadly this morning, after a car struck an SUV and a van in the intersection of Irvington and Alvernon, according to the Pima County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies were called to the scene shortly after 6 a.m. on Monday. The PCSD Traffic Unit determined that the van and the SUV had been traveling northbound on Alvernon Road when they were struck by a sedan traveling southbound in the left turn lane to go eastbound.  According to Traffic Unit investigators the driver of the sedan allegedly turned in front of the van and SUV and was struck on the passenger side.

According to a PCSD release the driver of the van did not need medical attention, while the drivers of both the sedan and the SUV were transported to UAMC with serious but non-life threatening injuries.  The passenger in the sedan, identified by PCSD as Henry Gonzales Grijalva, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is still ongoing.
