TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Department of Public Safety is saying a small plane that had to use Interstate-8 as a runway on Tuesday night, is still sitting in the area, though completely off the road, parked near the closest exit.
Officials say mechanics are supposed to arrive near I-8 and State Route 84 sometime today.
The pilot had to make an emergency landing on I-8. DPS says the pilot was lucky there was not a lot of traffic in the area due to it being Veterans Day.
We are also learning from officials that there was a family of three on board. Dad was the pilot, a mom and their daughter. When DPS officers arrived last night, they found the plane on the side of the road.
No one was hurt, and the cause is still under investigation.
