Protect the Four Ps: People, Pets, Plants, and Pipes from the winter chill. Bundle up children and yourself, plus make sure pets have a warm place to sleep overnight. Protect sensitive vegetation and wrap pipes to keep them from freezing. Widespread freezing of pipes becomes a bigger threat when temperatures drop into the 20s overnight. Most locations in the city will stick to the 30s, but some outlying areas may drop into the 20s. Even with a low risk of freezing pipes, it is the time of year when it is a good idea to get prepared.
