Pima County readies for CD-2 recount

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Pima County elections workers are making sure their equipment is ready for the recount in the Congressional District 2 race.

They checked the ballot tabulation programs and machines on Tuesday before the actual counting on Dec. 3.

Pima County has seven machines and they say they should be able to count between 20,000 and 30,000 ballots per day.

Cochise County will also recount the ballots.

This is an automatic recount under the law because Republican challenger Martha McSally led Democrat Ron Barber by less than one tenth of one percent in the first count.

The count is expected to take several days and a random hand count is also set for next week.
