TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Right now preps are underway to make sure the Old Pueblo looks its best for the Tucson Gem, Mineral & Fossil Showcase, just one week away.
Primavera Works is looking for low-income and homeless people to help clean up the city. These workers will be paid above minimum wage to pick up trash along the I-10 corridor.
So far 65 people have signed up, but the organization could use more workers. The people they hire will work eight hours a day, any time between Feb. 1 to 17. They will also perform janitorial duties at the Tucson Convention Center. This is temporary work to help those in need get back on their feet.
According to Primavera Works this program is a bargain for the city and helps keep the area presentable for gem show guests.
The deadline to register for orientation is Monday, Jan. 26.
Those interested in this type of temporary work can call Primavera Works at (520) 882-9668.
