SIERRA VISTA, AZ (Tucson News Now) - A Sierra Vista man who claimed his handgun fired on accident at an apartment complex was arrested on drug charges.

A resident of an apartment complex in the 4400 block of E. Busby Drive reported hearing a single gunshot around 7 p.m. on Jan. 28 and a bullet had hit the water heater in the caller's apartment.

Police questioned another resident, 26-year-old Richard Cooksey Jr., who said he accidentally fired one of his handguns through his apartment door.

Officers searching Cooksey found approximately five grams of heroin in small baggies, the SVPD said.

Authorities booked Cooksey into the Cochise County Jail on charges of disorderly conduct, endangerment, misconduct involving a weapon, possession of narcotic drugs and possession of narcotic drugs for sale.
