Tucson Clean & Beautiful is looking for recycling artists for RUMBA

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Tucson Clean and Beautiful is looking for students from kindergarten through 12th grade, as well as college students and adults who are professional or aspiring recycled artists to participate in RUMBA (Re-Used Materials Becoming Art).

RUMBA is a contest that will take place during the spring 2015 SAHBA Home Show, March 27 and 28.  Those interested need to register by March 20.

Entries for the RUMBA competition must be three dimensional and no bigger than 2' x 3', and able to fit on a table or be freestanding.

According to a recent release from Tucson Clean and Beautiful the entries can be 'Any previously-used materials can be used to make recycled art for RUMBA. Scraps of plastic, paper, wood, metal, old toys and parts of broken things are the foundation for this type of art.'

Everyone is encouraged to enter their recycled art pieces for display.

K-12 student entries will be judged, with winners receiving prizes awarded following the event. All entries by adults or youth will receive a participation certificate. Professional quality entries by adults are for display only (no sales in the RUMBA display area; business cards permitted).

RUMBA entries may be delivered to the Tucson Convention Center, Tucson Clean & Beautiful information and art display booth on Thursday, March 26, between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. and will be on display for three days from March 27 to March 29. Entries must be picked up at closing time on Sunday, March 29 unless prior arrangements have been made.
