Police have identified the officer involved as Ofc. Jaime Gutierrez who has been with the department for two years. He is an officer assigned to the downtown division.
Officials say Gutierrez was responding to a report of a suspicious woman just before 9 p.m. Saturday in the 1200 block of West Saint Mary's Road.
