The group behind the successful recall election of two Sunnyside Unified School District board members is not happy with the board's latest choice for superintendent.

Steven Holmes, the assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction for Tucson Unified School District, was chosen in a 3-2 vote on March 27 after about four and a half hours of debate.

Holmes' first official day will be July 1, 2015, but community activists such as Richard Hernandez, Eddie Foss Badilla, and Ignacio Gomez, who were part of the last successful recall election, say another recall election may be coming.

Holmes' contract is three years long with a base pay starting at $150,000. Sunnyside board president Daniel Hernandez Jr. said that is roughly half the salary of the previous superintendent, Manuel Isquierdo.
