TFD: malfunctioning hot glue gun caused the garage fire that displaced three

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Shortly after midnight on Sunday, several calls came in to the Tucson Fire Department about a garage on fire in the 7100 block of East 18th Street. According to a TFD release the son woke to strange sounds coming from the garage, he went to investigate and saw the flames, it was at this point he woke his parents and got them out of the house.

Crews reported smoke and heavy flames coming from the garage and roof area above. It took 27 minutes for crews to extinguish the fire, after holes were cut into the roof in two areas.

No injuries were reported, according to TFD.  

Tucson Fire Department officials are reporting a hot glue gun is what caused the fire that displaced a family of three. 

According to TFD the hot glue gun, plugged in just 15 minutes before the fire started, malfunctioned causing the fire. The house has been condemned due to the damage. 

The Red Cross is assisting the family of three.
