TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Monsoon can be the perfect season for auto body scammers to strike.
Specifically, these scammers are looking for victims of hail damage.
"It is a problem everywhere in Arizona and it happens to everyone people you don't expect it to happen to," said Erin Nutting, agent owner at Integrity Insurance.
Insurance agents said scammers will try to target anyone they think they could get money from.
There is not a typical victim. Anyone could fall for it.
To avoid being a victim, insurance agents said they recommend never paying for any repairs upfront.
"My biggest tip is if you are you are pulling into a car wash or another place where you are going to do business and someone comes up to you and says 'I have noticed you have hail damage or I have noticed you have hail damage on your windshield,' those are the things you need to look out for," Nutting said.
Those who have questions or concerns regarding whether someone is legitimate or not, they should call their insurance agent.
