TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - An eastside neighborhood is on high alert, as residents continue to be targets for mail thieves.

Residents of the historic Harold Bell Wrights Estate neighborhood said the problem has been going on since May.

In the last few weeks, the thieves have become bolder, and are striking in broad daylight.

Locked mailboxes have been pried open, and parcels have been stolen right from residents' doorsteps.

Neighbors have held meetings with their local councilman, Paul Cunningham and the postal inspector's office.

Some neighbors said they have had enough.

"This time whoever did it went around the whole neighborhood," said Jim Notestine, a resident in the neighborhood. "They hit up every single street the same day. They hit up boxes all around...it makes you feel very vulnerable."

Officials at Councilman Paul Cunningham's office said they have asked police to be more vigilant in the area.

Anyone who sees any suspicious activity is urged to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
