SAHUARITA, AZ (Tucson News Now) - A Tucson area man and a man from Green Valley have been accused of stealing mail and forging checks in Sahuarita, authorities said.
Police Chief John D. Noland said Froilan Franco, 30, and Jose Luis Norzagaray, 30, were arrested on charges of fraudulent schemes and possession of burglary tools.
Noland said the men broke into U.S. Postal Service collection boxes and took checks. The men allegedly altered the checks and cashed them at banks.
"The information led police on an investigation that also uncovered connections to other jurisdictions' crimes that had also occurred," Noland said.
The Tucson Police Department, Pima County Sheriff's Department and U.S. Postal Service are investigating the men and additional charges are pending, according to Noland.
Norzagaray is being held on a $10,000 bond.
