TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The Teamsters Local Union 104 released a press release on Thursday evening, stating they have contacted a federal mediator and presented a "comprehensive proposal addressing all open items."

Teamsters officials contacted the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services with their proposal, which included both economic and non-economic issues.

The next step, according to the release, is for Sun Tran management to return to the negotiating table and "engage in good faith settlement talks with the assistance of the Federal Mediator and join the Teamsters in attempting to reach a fair and equitable settlement of this strike."

The cost of the new proposal is between $5.7 million and $7.7 million depending on how the wage progression freeze is resolved.

The union estimates that Sun Tran currently has $5.9 million to work with.

The release also stated that the striking Sun Tran employees and Teamsters Local Union 104 are "sympathetic to the ongoing struggle that Tucson area residents continue to face with each day the strike continues."
