Aloft, HSSA team up for unique animal adoption program
TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - In a unique twist on adoption programs, the Humane Society of Southern Arizona and Aloft Tucson University are teaming up to help find homeless pets their "forever homes."
"The partnership with Aloft, showcasing HSSA pets available for adoption, has been a wonderful experience. We have long known taking pets to the public helps find more forever homes. We look forward to many more successful stories with our new 'adoption team' at the Aloft in Tucson," said Brandy Burke, Acting CEO – COO, HSSA.
Four dogs have already been adopted via the program:
- Kaleigh, a 4-year-old Cocker Spaniel (now residing in Payson, Arizona)
- Lily-belle, an 8-month-old Jack Russell Terrier mix
- Nala, an 18-month-old Beagle
- Buster, a four-year-old Chihuahua mix (now residing on Long Island).
Already a pet-friendly hotel and through its Animals R Fun program, HSSA pets will live at the Aloft and be cared for by hotel staff. Thanks to special training from the HSSA, hotel staff help make the right match between dog and owner and then will be able to process those adoptions.
"HSSA's collaboration with the Aloft truly shows that when two organizations work together, on behalf of a great cause, like finding forever homes for shelter animals, amazing things can happen. We couldn't be more thankful to Aloft and their staff members," said Aaron Fisher, Volunteer Manager, HSSA in a recent release.
HSSA is always looking for unique ways to help get their shelter pets adopted and in addition to the Main Campus, potential adopters can find HSSA pets at three PetSmart locations, as well as at Park Place and La Encantada, all animals at these locations are available for adoption.
