FALFURRIAS, TX (Tucson News Now) - U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Rio Grande Valley Sector apprehended a wanted man on Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Falfurrias Checkpoint north of McAllen, TX.

The man was turned over to the local sheriff's office for extradition, according to a news release posted on the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website.

Inside the back of his vehicle, were three Mexican nationals.

The incident occurred around 1 p.m. when a man driving a black Range Rover approached the Falfurrias Checkpoint.

Following a K-9 alert, the driver, a U.S. citizen, was directed to the secondary inspection area.

A records check revealed the driver had a warrant for arrest on a kidnapping charge from the Irving Police Department, the release stated.

Agents then discovered the three Mexican nationals hidden in the back of the vehicle underneath a pile of clothing and other items.

All three were processed for return to Mexico.
