Sierra Vista man arrested for robbery

SIERRA VISTA, AZ (Tucson News Now) - A Sierra Vista man was arrested for robbery on Oct. 2, according to police.

26-year-old Vernon Armstrong-Kearney is being held in the Cochise County Jail on a $30,000 bond, according to a news release from the Sierra Vista Police Department.

According to the release, Armstrong-Kearney allegedly struck a man, threw him to the ground and kicked him several times and ripped his pockets looking for money. Police say Armstrong-Kearney also stole the man's cell phone.

The victim was taken to Canyon Vista Medical Center for treatment of injuries to his elbows, shoulder and back.
