PHOENIX (Tucson News Now) - A tweet by Randy Pullen, former chairman of the Arizona Republican Party, is garnering major attention.

During the first Democratic Presidential Debate on Tuesday, Oct. 13 a viewer in Iowa asked the presidential candidates if black lives matter, or if all lives matter.

Pullen tweeted his response, which stated:

The tweet quickly garnered attention, including from many people who called him racist.

Arizona State Rep. Kelly Townsend (R-Mesa) responded, stating:

Pullen told the Phoenix New Times on Wednesday, Oct. 14 that he was being sarcastic and that guns aren't the cause of violence.

He said creating jobs for young blacks and whites would greatly reduce violence.

Pullen ran for Arizona state treasurer last year.
