New solar shade technology debuts in Tucson RV park

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Campers at a Tucson RV park can soon enjoy shaded spaces thanks to newly installed solar shade technology.

Kampgrounds of America (KOA) says the nation's first PowerParasol solar shade technology in a recreational facility will be commissioned in Tucson Wednesday.

The installation is at Lazydays KOA at 5151 South Country Club Road.

KOA says the solar shade is made up of two 28-foot high structures that cover two acres of the campground and provide cover for 30 campsites.

The structures are not solid, so plants can grow under them.

The company says the solar system can produce one megawatt of energy.
