PIMA COUNTY, AZ ( Tucson News Now) - The Pima County Sheriff's Department has added two permanent drop-off boxes for unused prescription and over-the-counter medications.

"The proper collection and disposal of unused prescription and over-the-counter medications is extremely important," the PCSD said in a news release. "Improper or careless disposal creates potential problems, namely environmental and health hazards."

The sheriff's department will continue to host Dispose-a-Med events throughout the year.

The locations are:

• Foothills District Office: 7300 N. Shannon Road (Phone number: 520-351-6311)

• Ajo District Office: 1249 Ajo Well Road (Phone number: 520-387-8511)

The boxes will be accessible from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
