TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The Gunsite Pass Fire in the Santa Rita Mountains has grown to 200 acres and is 50 percent contained on Thursday morning, according to information from WildCAD.
Fire crews are battling the wildfire burning in grass and oak south of Tucson and roughly 15 miles east of Green Valley.
No structures were said to be threatened on Wednesday.
Heidi Schewel, spokeswoman for the U.S. Forest Service Coronado National Forest, said in a news release on Wednesday, "Firefighters on the ground are making good progress today, however as conditions become hotter and drier this afternoon, fire behavior may increase. Two additional crews, four engines and more overhead have been ordered to support the suppression efforts."
Investigators believe the fire is human-caused but it is under investigation.
