TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Soma Intimates is collecting new and gently worn bras to help local women affected by domestic violence.

Donations can be made to the Soma Intimates store located in the Foothills at La Encantada Shopping Center (2905 E Skyline Drive) through Feb. 3, 2016.

The bras will be given to women who stay at the Gospel Rescue Mission. Leaders there say many of their clients are victims of domestic violence. Most come to the shelter with just the clothes on their backs.

"We don't get a lot of bra donations," Casandra Galloway said. "I just don't think a lot of people think about donating bras. It really makes a difference in these women's lives. It gives them confidence."
The Gospel Rescue Mission women's shelter serves about 60 women a day. Galloway says up to 85 percent of the women who come to stay experience verbal or physical domestic violence.
