TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Jared Lee Loughner, the man who carried out the mass shooting in Tucson in 2011, was moved to a different federal prison, Tucson News Now has learned.
Loughner, who previously was incarcerated at the U.S. Medical Center for Federal Prisoners in Springfield, MO, has been at the Federal Medical Center in Rochester, MN, since at least September of 2015.
Loughner is serving seven consecutive life sentences, plus 140 years, for the Jan. 8, 2011 shooting that killed six people and wounded 13, including former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.
FMC Rochester holds 698 male offenders of all security classifications, according to its website. The inmates at FMC Rochester require specialized or long-term medical or mental health care.
